How Do You Transform Eight Roadshows Into One Virtual Experience?

cred has been an integral part of making LiveRamp’s RampUp event series a success for years. RampUp has invariably kicked off their flagship event in San Francisco then taken RampUp on the Road, re-creating the most popular sessions in smaller, intimate events in targeted cities around the world throughout the year. When 2020 brought cataclysmic changes, we thank our lucky stars RampUp went off without a hitch in early March. But shortly after LiveRamp came to us with a whole new challenge: We had not one, not two, but eight different roadshow events to re-create in a virtual setting.

 

So RampUp Worldwide was born—the biggest RampUp event ever, happening all at one time across the globe digitally. And from agenda curation and speaker management to platform selection, we were there to make sure their multi-day event went flawlessly.

 

CRAFTING A RELEVANT, ENGAGING AGENDA

First we created a consistent, curated agenda that was relevant to LiveRamp’s universal audience, which spread across six geographic regions around the world. What were the topics most pressing to these attendees? Which companies would be most relevant to speak about them? Overcoming time zone issues and language barriers, we worked with each regional event team, holding in-depth brainstorms and strategy sessions. Through these discussions, we settled on 61 sessions that focused on privacy, addressability, measurement, TV, and data partnerships.

IDENTIFYING AND MANAGING THE SPEAKERS

With content being the heart of RampUp, our next task was to identify the most impactful speakers to serve the brief and begin making speaker asks. Ultimately we secured some fantastic speakers from AB InBev, Fitbit, L’Oreal, NBC, the NHL, Roku, TikTok, Uber, and more. Speakers were not only well-versed in the topics, they represented perspectives from 10 countries, which helped them better address any audience questions pertaining to a specific location. (For ease of use, we had each speaker present in their native language and translated the session for broader viewing after the live event.)

SELECTING THE BEST PLATFORM

One of the most difficult decisions you face for any virtual event is which platform to use. In this case, the decision was made even harder by the need to consider the privacy, security requirements, and platform familiarity of multiple countries at the same time. Ultimately, we selected ON24, which allowed attendees to engage through live Q&A, polls, and group chats.
 

This event was a wonderful challenge that yielded great results.
